Coleraine Businesses Vote Yes: Coleraine BID to Continue Delivering Exciting Events and Support Over the Next 5 Years
Published on:September 30, 2024

Businesses in Coleraine town centre have overwhelmingly voted to continue the work of Coleraine Business Improvement District (BID) for another five-year term. Coleraine BID, a not-for-profit organisation, has been transforming the town centre, organising a packed calendar of free events for the local community and visitors to enjoy.

The BID team has been responsible for hosting family-friendly events such as the Easter Family Fun Zone, Summer Superhero Walkabouts, Halloween Pumpkin Patch, and Christmas favourites like the Grinches Lair and inflatable monsters. Other highlights include Coleraine’s Christmas Radio, live music stages, mobile farm animals, and the award-winning CQ Magazine, delivered free to readers.

Continued Support and a Look to the Future

Speaking on behalf of the Coleraine BID Board, Jamie Hamill expressed his gratitude to the businesses that voted for BID in the recent ballot:

“On behalf of the Board, I would like to thank the proactive, forward-thinking organisations in Coleraine who voted yes in the ballot. We are grateful for your vote of confidence. BID has already started planning more free entertainment for Coleraine town centre, alongside a range of other projects and support, all outlined in our 5-year improvement plan.”

Local businesses have voiced their support for BID’s efforts. Emma Bolton, from the award-winning Real Health Store, said:
“Coleraine BID does a fantastic job working with local businesses to bring awareness, footfall, and excitement to the town centre. The events are brilliant for families, the Christmas radio is lovely, and CQ Magazine is amazing.”

Simon Colquhoun, Store Director at Moores, added:
“I’m delighted with how Coleraine BID has helped boost footfall in the town centre with a brilliant programme of events backed by strong marketing.”

Julie-Ann Mullan, Manager of Next, shared:
“I love hearing about the events BID puts on – they always bring more footfall into town.”

Stephen McKenna, Manager of Regatta, commented:
“Coleraine BID really brings people into the town! You can clearly see the difference when they put on an event.”

A Bright Future Ahead

With a fresh mandate, the Coleraine BID team is already preparing to expand on its previous success, delivering even more exciting events and projects over the next five years. Chair of Coleraine BID, Ian Donaghy MBE, expressed his delight at the outcome of the vote:
“I am thrilled that the majority of businesses in Coleraine have voted in favour of the Coleraine Business Plan 2024-2029. This ensures there is an active organisation with in-depth knowledge of our town, dedicated to delivering the projects and support needed for the next five years.”

As Coleraine BID looks ahead, the local community and businesses can expect another five years of growth, community spirit, and exciting developments for the town centre.
